Growing up in New York City, my family always made it a point to leave the city and immerse ourselves in the great outdoors. My dad’s adventurous spirit, rooted in the tropical southern islands of the Philippines, brought the thrill of nature into our urban lives. From early mornings spent climbing trees in the Adirondacks to late-night bonfires on the beaches of Long Island, I was introduced to the beauty of the North East from a young age.

On the other hand, my mom filled our home with the rich flavors and traditions of both Filipino and American cuisine, making food a central part of our lives. She embraced the diversity of NYC, experimenting with different cuisines every weekend and always welcoming friends and family to our table. This blend of cultures and traditions shaped my approach to both cooking and community building.

As an adult, I realized that the joy I found in gathering people around the dinner table and the campfire could be shared on a much larger scale. After years of leadership in food and retail management, honing my chef skills, and fostering connections, Basecamp Brooklyn was born. This adventure & outdoor cooking brand is the culmination of the values I’ve cultivated and lived by throughout my life.

Alongside my partner Erin, we’ve turned Basecamp Brooklyn into more than just a business—it’s a movement. We’re on a mission to inspire others to step outside, gather around the campfire, and experience the joy of community, nature, and nourishing food. As we continue to grow, our vision is to make an exponentially greater impact on our environment, our community, and our inner spaces.
