There’s something to be said for experiencing Chopped Cheese and a classic Hot Dog ,with all the trimming, in their pure forms, but personally I love creating a fusion of multiple flavors and ideas. Maybe because of my Filipino heritage, maybe my artistic spirit or just my love of all things FOOD. Anyway, allow me to introduce you to the Chopped Cheese Dog.

Chopped Cheese Dog

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 4 hot dog buns

  • 4 hot dogs

  • 1/4 lb of sliced pepper jack cheese

  • Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise, to taste

Instructions:

  1. If cooking outdoors, use a griddle. Indoors, you can substitute a large skillet. Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. Add the ground beef to the griddle and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

  3. Once the beef is cooked through, season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. Lay the cheese slices over the beef and let it melt.

  5. On your grill, cook the hot dogs over medium-high heat until heated through and slightly charred.

  6. Toast the hot dog buns in the oven or on the griddle.
